2. (поразявам) affect; hit hard; засегнал дълбоко организма (за болест и пр.) deep-seated; страната бе дълбоко засегната от кризата the country was hit hard by the crisis;

3. (отнасям се до) concern, affect, touch; \засегна пряко be of direct concern to; това засяга най-много вас you are the most closely concerned; това не ме засяга this doesn’t concern me; this has nothing to do with me; разг. it is not my funeral; това правило засяга всички this rule applies to all; този въпрос ви засяга отблизо this question touches you nearly;

4. (споменавам) touch on/upon, refer to, broach (a subject); (разглеждам, обхващам) range (over), treat; гледах да не засегна този въпрос I kept off the subject;

5. (обиждам) offend, hurt, wound, pique; бивам засегнат от be miffed (about, at); засегнат съм feel hurt/pained; \засегна дълбоко cut/sting/touch/wound s.o. to the quick, sting to the heart; \засегна нечие самолюбие offend/wound s.o.’s self-esteem, wound s.o.’s vanity; \засегна някого hurt/wound s.o.’s feelings;

\засегна се be offended/hurt (от at), take offence (at), be piqued (at), take (s.th.) ill/amiss; take exception (to); нищо не го засяга nothing offends/affects him; той лесно се засяга he is very touchy, he takes offence very easily, he is easily affected; • \засегна нечии интереси infringe on/injure s.o.’s interests; \засегна някого на болното място touch s.o. on the raw, touch s.o. on a raw/tender spot.
